Some useful info.
Parts of speech are not marked in the wordlist.
Almost always it’s clear from the translation to what part of speech the word belongs.
1. Plural endings given in brackets after some words: (an), (ag), (wag), (oog), (oon), (iig) (iin) etc [e.g., aabaabika'igan(an)], indicate nouns and their gender / animacy. Those endings must be added to the basic form using the word in plural.
2. Those with plural ending (..n) are inanimate nouns, those with (..g) - animate nouns.
3. Translations starting with: he (is)... - indicate vai verbs (verb animate intransitive).
4. Starting with: it (is)... - indicate vii verbs (verb inanimate intransitive).
5. Translations containing a verb in the third person + him - indicate vta verbs (verb transitive animate).
'Him' is placed to indicate the verb category and is not a part of the form translation used in the wordlist.
6. Translations containing a verb in the third person + it - indicate vti verbs (verb transitive inanimate).
'It' is placed to indicate the verb category and is not a part of the form translation used in the wordlist.
Verbs are placed in their basic forms mostly (=verb stems).
7. Some words (vta and vti verbs) end in a dash (-), which means a personal suffix must be added (as well as personal and other prefixes) to flex the verb.
The dialect is used from FDL, Minnesota. As well as the most part of words was taken from their wordlist (with several hundreds added). The wordlist contains about 3,760 words.
Fiero spelling is used.
I decided lately to add words with special marks (á, é, í, ó) after translations (e.g., [aabáábiká'igan]) to show stress in words according to Wilson's Dictionary (1874), where it is marked in his book, or available audio and other language materials.
Keep in mind that stress could float from syllable to syllable when flexing a word. It's also usual for long Ojibwe words, or words with several long vowels to have several stresses at a time.
